Dark Globe was published as a flexi-disc in Sassy Magazine in 1989. I couldn’t resist R.E.M. covering Syd Barrett, in spite of the fact that I’m just not that sassy.
The band regularly put out cover versions of songs I liked at Christmastime for their fan club. The only fan club I ever belonged to was the Residents’, so I don’t own these. I did manage to borrow some of the Christmas records and tape some songs. There were some excellent covers – Academy Fight Song by Mission of Burma, See No Evil by Television…. Unfortunately, the cassette is no more. I suppose I could get them on eBay…
