masterstrack.com has published my article, The Golden Anniversary of Age Group Running. With help from Gary Corbitt, son of the running pioneer Ted Corbitt, I found the first race to give out prizes specifically for older runners. It turns out that age group racing is almost exactly as old as I am.

Hassan Haydar put up a post about last weekend’s run on the Boston Marathon course. I ran a 4:09, which was an easy pace, though not as easy as I hoped it would be. Hassan’s pictures show that if I want to get faster, cutting back on muffins and cookies might be a good start.
This upcoming Sunday, I’ll be at the Mystic River Herring Run and Paddle. And the following Sunday, I’ll be running the relay with Team Ciera at the Vermont City Marathon. If you see me, say hi! I’ll be the one with the “Ask me about my book” t-shirt (or the Somerville singlet).
